As long as people don't protest with their wallets it will continue to happen...why would they waste their company's valuable resources when the end result (consumers buying product) does not change? Look how many posts in this very thread admit they buy autos even though they are ugly, just because it is their favorite player to collect?

It's easy to point the finger at Morency, but in a couple of years, even if he signed his name "Vernand Morency" and inscribed it with all of his Pee Wee through college football accomplishments no one is going to want it.

A good example of this (from my point of view) is Curtis Keaton, a draft pick of the Bengals who signed a hundred trillion autos. I collect Bengals, and I pulled one of his "CK" autos the other day and wish I hadn't, not because of his auto but because he stunk.

I see your point, even if this dosen`t low the value of the card, its fun when you get an autographe that is a real autograph, these kind of crappy signature annoye me too. By chance i don`t collect other sports than hockey but even there sometimes player do that. Or some player have a tendanci to signe just a part of the name, or worst just a nickname, i have a signed card of Joseph signed just Cujo...

just a thought, depending on how much these players are paid to sign, and how many card they have to do it,whats preventing them from paying people a small amount to write these short forms on it??
