I agree with golfman. Kobe, nor any other player right now, has that capability to score 100. Maybe if they added time to the qtrs, but I doubt it.

I doubt it highley. I think its a NBA record that will stand forever. The defensive talent is just too high this age of the game.

I love Kobe, but think it's an impossible feat.

defensive talent? I agree kobe won't score 100, but I wouldn't say that the defensive talent is stronger now days.

I don't think it will happen. Kobe is a gunner and can practically get 40 in his sleep, but to get 100 a lot of things have to click. I think Wilt's game was amazing because he converted so many free throws that night. He was being fouled because the opposition figured he'd stink at the free throw line, but he fooled them, going something like 28 for 32. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gotten 100.

Not that Wilt would have benefited from it, but Kobe does have the advantage of the 3-point shot. Shave a point off each of his 3-pointers the night he scored 81, and he would have had 74 under the old rules -- still impressive, but not as jaw-dropping. (He made seven 3-pointers that night).

Anything is possible, I suppose, but I just don't see it happening.

while i dont think it will ever happen if phil jackson let kobe take 48 shots in a meaningless game and left him in the fourth quarter to score in garbage time, i dont think its out of the realm of possiblity that he'd let him take 65 its only a difference of 15 shots, which isnt that many more

on wilts game, the knicks had absolutely no one to guard him as well, which was another thing that went right that night
