How to Spot a Counterfeit 1984-85 Star 101 Jordan

I've seen many raw copies over the last few months. Wondering what are some signs of a real card or what should I be looking for?

Short answer, you can't. As far as I know BGS still won't grade Star cards sent in and the only ones in BGS holders are from a specific supply that they trusted to be original. One of the home shopping networks got a hold of the original plates to a lot of the Star Cards in the late 80's early 90's and used them to make "counterfeits" but since they used the plate you can't TELL they're counterfeits. So basically, unless it's BGS slabbed, run far far away.

Yeah, I agree with what Camarotuner said. A while back, I saw some "rare" black border & white border Star Jordan cards on ebay. I asked one of the experts at one of the hobby magazines if they were real. He said they were counterfeited with the original printing plates and first sold on Shop At Home. The ones they printed in red, it would be REALLY difficult to tell a counterfeit from a fake. I heard that the red color is off from the original though. So you could buy original Bulls cards from the team set and compare the color if you could see the card in person.
