He never was bad.. I would have supported a McCain / Powell presidency in 2000 (that's what it would have been FYI)... republicans like them aren't insane (although McCain was forced to go very far right in 2008).. it's the people replacing these guys that are nuts. We used to have a country that agreed on things.. republicans, dems.. they could work together. Today if you want to be elected republican you have to take an oath to never compromise (literally)

I still think McCain and Powell are two true American heroes.

Yeah I wouldn't have a problem with a McCain/Powell ticket. I would defitenly vote for them over Hillary Clinton.

McCain has been through things that I couldn't even begin to comprehend. There is no politician out there that I respect more than John McCain. To be fair, Powell was wounded in Vietnam, he's seen some things as well. People don't become 4-star generals by accident. I feel for Powell. He was dragged along by the Bush administration into Iraq the second time around. Richard Clarke (another man who I have the utmost respect for) even attested to Powell's fight against the administration.

Powell despises the Bushies for what they did to him at the UN... I would too
As for his military career.. I think he was fast tracked. I can't think of anyone ever saying a bad word about the man.. and that's always helped him. Thousands were injured in vietnam but did not become the head of the joint chiefs..
