There's an amazing episode of 'King of the Hill' that points out the idiocy of "zero tolerance" policies. Hank becomes Bobby's wood shop teacher. Great episode.

Zero tolerance policies are in place to keep government employees from actually having to make judgment calls. They are truly pathetic.

well he DID break a rule. Even if he didn't plan or want to bring it the fact is he still brought the gun onto school grounds

Hate Zero Tolerance policies.
4 years ago in High School I was taking fine arts (home ec/sewing) and had to bring in some sewing needles for a project (we had to buy our own supplies). When I went to get them from my locker between classes one of the hall guards saw them and confiscated them and reported them to the principal. Long story short I got a 7 day suspension for having a "Weapon" in school property LOL. Fought it and lost still had to serve my 7 days. Schools are a freaking joke these days.
