Buying Commons
What is my best option for buying common cards for a specific team. I realize shipping becomes the toughest issue with large lots, but I do have access to both American and Canadian addresses.

For buying as many cheap base cards as possible? Canadianhockeycards, free shipping and lots of cheap cards.
Sportlots (both American and US shippers). The shipping is not free but there are even more cards and they're usually 18 cents so usually a bit cheaper. Obviously if you're smart then you can find one or two shippers to get most of your cards from to save on shipping that way.
COMC is the 3rd best option (better for higher end stuff but not as cheap for commons compared to the other two).
Or you might find luck buying a lot of cards for a particular team on eBay but I wouldn't buy singles on eBay because it's usually $1 minimum for one card alone which adds up.

What team are you looking for? The best option is probably this site. I could sell you commons for shipping costs plus a little extra. I don't want much.

Do you not have a card shop that you can go to and buy your base singles? Most shops I know have at least a couple of sets worth of singles for most products lying around.
