Player Collectors... Question for You
Hey. I just recently decided to start a player collection of Rodney Peete.
It seems extremely difficult to get people to look through their base cards to help me out. Do you guys have the same problems with the players you collect?
What is the best way to go about getting the cards I need from people?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

I actually have pretty good luck getting people to sort through their base. But that's mainly because I am usually talking to a fellow player collector. If you look for them they will look for you.
Can always buy large lots of player commons off ebay as well. Probably get 30-50 for around $5-$8 dlvd depending on the player.

Specific Player collecting is getting rarer and rarer and if you select a player like Rodney Peete, it'll be ALOT harder because many collectors probably don't even know who he is and he's NOT a HOT player so they don't even care...it's fustrating. I thinks going after team/player lots that pop up sometimes will land you some cards you need, but it can get pricey in the end. I currently have 10,000 duplicate Brunell base cards now
The most complete/comprehensive single player collection in the world with 95% of his Known cards & 400+ #1/1s.

I get the problem occasionally, but in time I always manage to come across collectors who will list base of a player. In basketball, I collect Lamar Odom's base cards only, and I have all his major issue base from his rookie year to 02-03. I am only missing two cards from 03-04 (SP Sig Ed, a hard find, and Topps Contemp. Collection, which NO ONE seems to have, lol) and one from 04-05 (Trilogy). (Still working on several from 05-06)
If you have spare money in your checking account, I highly recommend sportlots.com. They list all kinds of base singles of players on that site and sell them for pretty cheap. I was able to get some harder base for my Odom collection there. If I hadn't run out of money in my checking account, I'd go and see if anyone has added the remaining ones I need. : )
