Hey guys I just went through the checklist to History of Hockey and I will admit that I am not that impressed. Now I am a huge ITG fan and think that they are the best company out there but this stuff may look to be a miss.
You get one auto card, one rookie card, one ITG buyback card and one memorabilia card. To do a mock with the memorabilia will be too much work but this is what a pack could look like with the auto, rookie and ITG buyback card. It will be missing the memorabilia card which will be a pretty short printed card. I will just use random.org to get my results. I will post twenty packs without the memorabilia card.

The way I look at it, and some may not share that opinion, is that you have a 1:4000 chance of pulling a Vezina RC. You can substitute in other names and players of course, but I think most of us would agree that this is "the card" to own from the product - at least the rookies.
Will there be some packs that let people down? Inevitably. How is that unique from any other product? If you look at the box break results for a lot of products these days, the words average or below average come up quite a bit. The difference here is that the reward is potentially so much greater than just about any other product to be released this year.

After seeing the checklist, I don't know if I share that opinion. I understand that not every rookie card or auto buyback is gonna be a winner when there's 4000 of each, but what is ANYONE gonna do with an Adam Deadmarsh or Sebastien Centomo RC, or a Bob McGill or Milan Jurcina auto??? Other than scream "Cennnnnntomoooooooooo!!!" like William Shatner in Star Trek II.............
Yah, I know this product must have cost a fortune to amass and produce, and business is business and all, but all of a sudden I'm glad my box is a gift.
On the OTHER hand, how many loser boxes of Superlative III were there? Ya gotta hope that the collation will be half-decent in this case too.........

I never considered doing the random.org, so thanks for those virtual packs. Hopefully there is some degree of hand packing in there to avoid that randomness. I also feel that this would be best bought by the case, or drafted by the case.
To add to the discussion, I'm seeing some interesting nuggets in there for the autos with a potential for dual (+?) in there:
318 Stanley Cup Quarter Finals 1975 Topps
969 Scoring Leaders 1980 O-Pee-Chee
970 Penalty Minute Leaders 1980 O-Pee-Chee
972 Goals Against Average Leaders 1980 O-Pee-Chee
973 Shutout Leaders 1980 O-Pee-Chee
1591 Canadiens Team Leaders 1980 O-Pee-Chee
I also have to admit loving autographed Pro Set
2953 Dale Hunter 1991 Pro Set
2980 Phil Esposito 1990 Pro Set
3022 Patrick Roy 1990 Pro Set
3025 Steve Yzerman 1992 Pro Set
3029 Bobby Clarke 1990 Pro Set
3030 Glen Hanlon 1990 Pro Set
3062 Stephane Richer 1992 Pro Set
Cheers,
reoddai

There's apparently going to be a guy busting 8 packs of this on Saturday at trade night down at Player's Choice here in Kelowna. I'm hoping to attend and I will happily report on any massive cards pulled from it.

I think this product is intriguing, but out of my budget. There are a bunch of nice 1970s -1980s Rangers Autos to chase. Also, I collect New York Rangers Parkhurst Memorabilia cards, some of which are included as buybacks in this product, so it may give me a chance to purchase some of these cards in the secondary market. One thing I am wondering given the size of the checklist for the autos and buyback cards is where did these cards all come from, and if they were purchased on E-Bay, did I lose auctions for these cards to ITG.
