Because you, and those who agree with you, won't even take it seriously. Face it, there's a reason Canada has such a loser incidence of gun violence and it's not population (per capita we're still WAY lower than you) or because we're polite (we're only polite to people from other countries, not each.other). We have better gun control. We have better gun education.
When you say things like, "Well the police kill people, should we take their guns away? you're not being serious. You're not showing an ounce of respect for people who believe in something that has worked elsewhere. You take everything to its most ridiculous end. You're not interested in any solution, you just want you gun.
I can handle you wanting your gun. I can respect that. If you make a real argument you might even get me to agree with you. But you're just being ridiculous.
No one in favour of gun control has said anything about banning all guns...you have. Your friends have. No one else has, though. So why argue against an outright ban that no one has mentioned?
Ridiculous.
Suggesting anyone (here) wants to take guns from the police or military when no one said it is also ridiculous.
Putting your point across in a meaningful and respectful way isn't. You should do that more often and hold back on the ridiculousness.

are you paying attention on here and other forms of media?
I have not heard pne person asking for more gun control expect to remove assault weapons and related items. As well as stricter access. We are not touching Pistols, Revolvers, shot guns and rifles.

I've got a feeling no matter how many times this message is explained it will go in one ear and out the other. The NRA or second has them all convinced "control" means "ban". Unless they look fin a dictionary, they're never going to get it (and even then, they'll probably call it a "liberal" dictionary).
We've already tried 1000 over the las week. They're never going to get it. Stubbornness and ignorance has that effect.

because people see a kid kill 26 people in 2 minutes with a weapon that is pretty extreme and they want to do whatever they can to keep it from happening again. I think gun control is an area that these types of killings could be even more limited (they are already rare statistically speaking). It's not the only thing or even the major thing that would help limit them but it's a part none the less.

I'm not a fan of nanny statism. You need to pick your battles. Guns and lawn darts should not even be in the same discussion.

true. guns are way more dangerous and could be argued that they should require way more training to own and could be argued that they need to be more restricted than lawn darts.
also, lawn darts aren't illegal to own. they just don't make them anymore.

No one has responded to this chart, so I'll connect the dots here.
1) Per capita gun violence is significantly less in the U.S. than Latin and African countries. They have way fewer guns, yet they are much more likely to use them violently. Overall, there are more violent gun incidents in the U.S., but we have 310 million people so of course we're going to have a lot more then much smaller countries. Reducing the number of guns in the U.S. is not going to result in less gun violence.
2) Per capita gun violence in Canada is significantly less than the U.S. Why? The answer is demographics. In Canada only 3.5% of the population is African/Latin while in the U.S. it is 28.9%. The mass immigration to the U.S. has primarily been these groups and they've brought gun violence with them.
