Leaf Officially Announces Best Of Hockey (MUST SEE)
So, last week I posted that Leaf announced they were doing Best Of Hockey via Twitter. Well, yesterday they released their product sheets for it.
In similar "Best Of" style, each box features 2 cards:
1 Buyback card
1 Hand Drawn or painted 1/1 sketch card
There are also 3 boxes per case.
Leaf has normally come up big on buybacks for these, and, they really have again. It'll be interesting to see it live, some of the cards that they have listed in the product sheet:
Ovechkin, Stamkos FWA Graded 10
Lemieux Rookie Graded 9.5
Yzerman Rookie Graded 10
Nuge SPGU Rookie Auto /10 Graded 9.5
Crosby YG Graded 10
Orr Authenticated Auto on Rookie Card
Gretzky IP Auto on Rookie Card
Crosby Patch Auto from Ice that's low numbered
Oh, and a Graded 9.5 Gretzky Rookie.
All buybacks are slabbed, and either authenticated by PSA/DNA or graded by Beckett.
BUT WAIT! There's redemptions!
You wonder what redemptions in a product could be for?
Well, sealed tins of The Cup, and sealed packs of vintage cards such as 79/80 OPC/Topps!
Here's the link if you want to check it out yourself:

The main difference between the two is the 3 buybacks are rolled into 1, and the cards are graded. Also the art cards don't have mem pieces.
It should be, if I'm not mistaken, around the same price as well (emailed inquiring just incase I get the $$$ for it). It's a risk/reward kind of thing, but with a lot of nice cards.

When did Leaf get a license to print hockey cards?

Just like ITG, they can produce it under tight regulations.

Still floors me to see a card company release a "set" which includes cards from another manufacturer (buyback / rookie or not).

Leaf says: "Buy my product and you could be lucky enough to win a sealed Upper Deck box!!!"
Leaf had several nice hockey releases in the 90's. They could re-release their own cards with enhancements like autographs or jersey / patch additions.Last edited by Drewk86a; 01-16-2013 at 02:18 PM.
