....

You are lied to & taught blindly in Hockey School in Canada when you are a 6 year old, that a shot from one of your own players will never hurt you, so get in front of the net and screen the other team's goaltender.

Scott Hartnell receives a slapshot on the ankle from defensive teammate Timonen, gone for at least 2 months. Phaneuf drives the puck at the net and the blunt trauma that it causes, breaks the forearm of Joffrey Lupul, also gone a minimum of two months.

At 15 years of age, I took a slapshot in the teeth from my defenseman (who could not hit a pig in the arse with a shovel full of wheat). It ricocheted off my face and into the net for my Hat Trick. Cut to 2 hours later in the dentist chair, and the dentist glueing my left big tooth to my right, hoping that it will take (and it did). Like Hockey Fights, you don't always get hurt, but may times you really do.

If you told every Tom Thumb and Atom player that the puck hurts, they'd never play the game, nor would their Mothers let them.
