If in the end, the government is going to do whatever it wants to, that's even more reason for people like this sheriff to stand up again unconstitutional laws that try and disarm the populace.

What's to stop him from simply implementing his own view of how things should be then? If you're okay with him doing this, then you should be okay with him pulling people over for driving the exact speed limit because HE doesn't like that. You should also be okay with him arresting people for walking funny because HE doesn't like that.

I understand you agree with the sentiment, in truth I don't fully disagree with it. In practice however, it's the stupidest thing ever. If he's going to ignore one aspect of his JOB he shouldn't be doing any of it. You may as well institute permanent marshal law at that point. If one law means nothing to him, they all mean nothing to him.

Which law should he enforce? The Constitution is our ultimate law. It says that the Federal Government shall not infringe on individuals right to bear and keep arms. The Ohio state law confirms this. Why should the Sheriff enforce a Federal Law forcing him to disarm Ohio citizens if it is in violation of his State law and the Constitution?

Is there a body charged with deciding whether the laws government passes are constitutional?
    Yes.
    Does that body include Sheriffs?
    No. Just judges.

The Constitution says that any power not explicitly given to the Federal Government remains with the states. As an additional protection, the Founders wrote the Bill of Rights. The second item they penned was insuring that the government would not infringe on citizen's ability to keep and bear arms.

If we reach the point where Federal judges are ruling that it is Constitutional to disarm the citizenry, then America as we know it will be gone.

Yeah but this guy is talking about pretending to be a federal judge. He's not a judge, he's a sherriff. He's overstepping his boundaries and you're applauding him because you don't like the President. It's guys like this who will be the ones you need protection from. He's in law enforcement and doesn't give two craps about laws HE doesn't like. Should every Sherriff do that? Just enforce what they want?

Sounds like a pretty crappy America to me. I'll stay here where judges are judges and sherriffs are sherriffs.
