Excessive Shipping Charges?
I just bought 4 cards from a seller all for 99 cents. His listing states $3 shipping for one auction. But when I won 4 cards from him, he said that the shipping for the 4 cards will be $9. Is it just me or is $9 a lot to ship 4 cards. He also said that insurance is extra, advice?

I would have but the auction was going to end in 10 minutes. I really think that it's bogus that I have to pay an extra $6 to ship me 3 additional cards. If he would've charged me $100 do I still have no choice?

insurance is the sellers responsibility. he can say he is not responsible all day long, but its his job to get your cards to you as described. cant do much about the $9 shipping, some sellers are just that way. most sellers are willing to make some type of deal on the shipping.......just ask.
always use paypal. if the items dont arrive or arrive damaged you can get your money back.............thats your insurance.

how would I go about getting my money back with paypal? I've gotten damaged cards before with the "I should've paid the extra $3 for insurance" line.

As it's been said, you don't have much of a choice on the shipping. The guy could have been a real jerk and made you pay the whole $12 for all four auctions. If the person doesn't list that they combine shipping in their description, then you might be safer to stay away unless you don't mind getting it stuck to ya by the seller.

What's ebay policy about charging extra shipping to cover the cost of their items? He just e-mailed me back after I politelly asked why the shipping rates were high and he said
"I have to make back my money some how because of my super cheep prices"
that is not a typo on my part, he really did say cheep.

As far as I know, there is no policy. Ebay doesn't care about the buyers. That's a fact ! If they did, they wouldn't allow retallitory negative feedback when you leave it for a seller when you never got what you paid for. As long as Ebay gets their money for the listing and final price fees, that's they care about.

That sucks. Ask him to send the cards seperatley then. If he needs to make his money back somewhere, then you should tell him you need to get your money back somehow as well. Tell him each card should be sent seperately in it`s own bubble envelope. You can always re-use those envelopes since you paid for them. :D
