Lindy Ruff fired as Sabres head coach.

Kind of a bittersweet day as a Buffalo Sabres fan. It was definitely time for a change, but Ruff seems like a good guy and a good coach who just wasn't working here anymore. Should make for an interesting rest of the season.

I'm not sure of the Sabres fans thoughts but I would think many people will miss him. It's always good to have some change so this could be good for Buffalo and I'm sure that Ruff will immediately receive interest from other teams.

Nothing wrong with Lindy as he's a great guy and person, just needed a change and I think he'd lost the support of the team at this point. Isn't gonna solve all of our problems, but definitely is a step in the right direction

Unfortunately, that is spot on. I liked Lindy as a player, a coach, and it was just time to change. It happens. Now lets see what happens...playoffs, or Darcy is next.

I agree about Lindy- this is really bittersweet. Lindy was an easy guy to root for and it would have been great to see him win a Cup here, but unfortunately it was time for a change.

The next step is getting rid of Regier. He's the one who put together this team, and it's obviously lacking.

I didn't understand why they signed Regier to an extension at the beginning of the season until one of the radio jocks brought it up this morning - the last thing you want is a lame duck GM making decisions for your team at the trade deadline or going into the draft, both of which will approach before any team could give a lot of consideration to replacing a GM.

Basically I'm thinking Regier needs at least one more season. Most of the issues people had with his drafting and personnel decisions over the last decade have improved. I think with one more season with a new coach, we can see if the team Regier built just needed a new handler, or if the problem runs much deeper than that.
