Here's a tip on selling cards on Ebay ---

if you sell your cards with the auction ending at 10 PM PST, you won't get many bidders from the East Coast.

Likewise, if you sell your cards at 6 am PST, you get lots of bidders on East Coast, but less on West Coast.....

so, Ebay is an effective price guide at certain "hot" times.... like 4 pm PST to 9 PM PST --- this covers 7 pm EST to 12 am EST

and that's when you probably get the most bidders and eyeballs

Nice post Tim. I kind of take a different approach but I agree that ebay is the best price indicator (especially for "True" current prices).

Ebay is now to Beckett pricing for cards just as it is for etopps IMO.

    150 CC for the post.

    hey pod...

you also don't want your thing to end when everyone else's is ending as it is more competition.

    Ok
If ebay were the only means to trade/sell cards then yes it would be a true reflection of the value like the stock market. but unlike the stock market I can go down the street to a dozen places to sell my cards. I think it is going in the right direction but if you could set ebay as the only medium to sell cards then ok but it's not. There are other sites and places so i don't think it is a true reflection. it is only a true reflection for people who have seen that auction. there are just too many variances that change the price in some instances (timing, # of viewers, which auction site, etc...)

Also - aren't some stocks "Book Value" (total equity) higher than the actual market cap?

Ebay has changed the way people but not only cards but cars, clothes, and just about any valuable products. If only people would realize!!

i agree ebay is changing things but you have to remember there are a lot of dumb people out there. i have seen shops that sell at BV and do fine. not everyone has the access to ebay that you might and some choose not even to bother with it regarless if they could get a card cheaper. so if a shop can sell at BV and move cards (and i know they can because i worked in one) then good for them. for the rest of us - we have ebay

Ok just think about this most people selling cards on ebay RIP on shipping so your really paying more. Say you get a $20 GU card for $4. Then you pay the $3 shipping. Then you pay $1.30 Insurance. Your Paying $8. About Half Book. Thats why i think Beckett is a great magazine. I say you can sell cards at the Low Price and Trade them at there Hight Price. Just my $0.02.
