Rand Paul Filibuster
He will speak until he can't speak any longer..
“I rise today to begin to filibuster John Brennan’s nomination for the C.I.A.,” Mr. Paul began. “I will speak until I can no longer speak. I will speak as long as it takes, until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that our Constitution is important, that your rights to trial by jury are precious, that no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime, without first being found to be guilty by a court.”

I'm not sure how effective filibusters are. I guess it brings some media attention, but they seem to be a waste of time. Seems like they could have spent that 12 hours on something more productive. Maybe I'm overlooking something about them but they just seem like the political version of kids holding their ears and yelling over and over just to cause a commotion.

They are effective for what Paul's purpose was yesterday, he wasn't trying to stall John Brennan's confirmation, he was holding the senate captive for a debate on whether or not, and when, drone strikes are constitutional. A debate that needed to happen and actually seemed to accomplish a lot as both sides seemed to come to agreement on a lot of it.

Then McCain slams Paul for holding this debate,

I lost the little bit of respect I had for McCain today.

McCain did not attend and obviously doesn't know what the point of the filibuster was. If you're trying to get people to talk and they won't, make ridiculous statements until they get so annoyed they start talking. It's tried and true and it (seems to have) worked again this time.
If McCain wants to be taken seriously he should probably show up for work.

Rand Paul is the biggest clown to be ever elected to a federal office!. I use clown because the filter and rules wont allow me to say what I am really thinking.
In a letter dated March 7 2013 from the Attorney General of the US, which by chance didnt take 13 hours or nonsense with an answer to His Question. Which was 'No'.

Paul,as I mentioned, is a clown and nothing but. He a teapublican trying to make a name of himself for 2016. This was show boating and a waste of time and federal funds when we have REAL issues to worry about and need the right answers! This jagwagon is not even close!
Edit: I was incorrect in saying is the biggest clown.
He is running neck and Neck with Michelle BachmanLast edited by MadMan1978; 03-07-2013 at 09:27 PM.
