This will eventually go through. Sad thing is the fact that the citizens of our country are becoming so weak-minded that the government now feels that it has the right to tell you what size of drink you can have with no fear that the people will take a stand and say "Enough is enough!"

I like that someone actually tried to do something about obesity.
This was 100% the wrong thing to do.
Very glad it got struck down. It's a really, really stupid law.

The problem is how do you fight obesity without infringing on individual rights?

The kicker in all of this...thanks to educational budget cuts and performance expectations on standardized tests, schools are cutting gym class out of the curriculum. When I was in school we had 30-40 minutes of gym every day from 1st grade all the way through 12th grade. Now gym (now called P.E.) is only required for 45 minutes a day for 1/2 a semester in the final four years of high school in many states and other states have no P.E. requirements at all. What are we teaching kids? And why are we surprised that as adults they place little to no value on physical activity?

Yeah gym was as well as health class were requirements to graduate from both high school and college for me. I also think the law is very stupid. I don't need nor do I appreciate the gov't who can't get anything else right telling me what I may eat or drink. I am not a child I am a grown man more than capable of making decisions on what is right for me to eat or drink.

Even though gym was a requirement I started to notice the decline in it. You got an A for just going in the locker room and putting your gym shirt on. You didn't have to play whatever sport(s) they were playing. Some people just sat around and played cards or with the old school gameboy.

I'm kind of torn on this issue. I understand the "infringing on rights" crowd's POV, but sometimes legislating stupidity is a good thing.

I agree legislating stupidity is a good thing, but it can't be done. Whenever something idiot-proof is created, someone breeds a better idiot.
