Should I write UD??
So I went to D&A's on my way through to Detroit for a game. I bought two boxes of 11/12 Ultimate and what a mistake. I got TWO Matt Duchene autos, a 2 color Eddie Shack patch, and a 3 color Landeskog patch. I looked up all the prices and I literally made about $40 back out of $170 of a "mid/high end product." Duchene autos have gone for less than $3, and I only got 1 rookie auto of Geiffrion. The guy at the store said he opened 3 or 4 and got hosed on them and wrote them a letter about how awful it was.
Do I write UD? That is pretty pathetic having two Duchene autos that don't combine for more than $6, and the Landeskog patch similar to mine went for $20. I am pretty angry about it, and should I write them to see if they will compensate for it? Put a salty enough taste in my mouth to not buy UD again.

Not every box of the product can have a Crosby 1/1. Sometimes the luck is with you, and sometimes it is not.
Are we really at a time in the hobby where we're starting letter campaigns because we get a sub-par break?
This is the catch-22 of ANY high-end break - high risk/high reward.Habs fan and collector! Main PC's: Carey Price, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and of course...

I am totally fine getting a sub par break, but having a mid/high end product where autos of a star player like Duchene going for less than $3 is ludacris to me, especially in consecutive boxes next to each other. Getting less than a fourth of value back just doesn't settle well with me

UD is not exactly in control of the market and how much their cards sell for.

Last weekend, I opened a box of sp authentic and got 3 autos of people who have no NHL playing career. On the other hand, I've opened boxes with great autos and huge hits. Mid-high products are often high risk and you have to live with that.
Good luck on future breaks,
Matt

I'm assuming you got the right amount of cards, the right number of jerseys and autos etc. UD has always had issuess with collation (3 George Parros singles out of one blaster box for me) and like tha man said, if the market says Duchene is worth 3 bucks, that's life eh?
Personally, what you're talking about is the very reason I quit buying boxes. But you got what was advertised on the side of the box........

If you had two Duchenes in the same box, yeah I'd call, but with two separate boxes I thinks thats all a part of the risk
Please check my inventory before my photobucket!!! It's more up to date!!!

Yeah it is pretty bad lately. More and more of these threads popping up. If you want better bang for your buck buy ITG packs.
Remember OP it could have been worse, you could have been a case buster who pre-ordered 12/13 Limited and couldn't figure out why they got back $400 on their 1400$

Would you be calling UD if you hit back to back Gretzky autos?

I recently opened a box of Titanium and got a Jared Cowen auto, three game-used gear jersey cards, and as a bonus, a David Ullstrom true rookie /41. As far as beating the odds hits wise, I did fine. If I sold all my hits, I wouldn't get $30.00 back. I'm not going to write Panini, I knew the risk going in. Just think how sweet the feeling will be when you get an insane box.
