Chipper Jones Radio Show

Chipper does a weekly show that he sometimes appears at a bar/restuarant to do and this was one of those times. Sam got him on a Chipper Jones logo ball, an 8X11 with some 2012 All stars and two cards, 2009 Topps and a 2013 Chasing History card

Jayson Werth ( 2/6)- 2011 tOPPS, 2009 Topps. Right before first pitch. He said no to the crowd a few times, just not today, but as he was running in Sam and another kid hit him with, "Is just us two, please" and it worked, he shrugged his shoulders made a why not kinda face and came over, interesting that he picked two Phillies cards over nats cards. And Werth definetly chose them. Sam has never gotten him, so he has plenty of cards for him. Great get for Sam.
Strasburg signed for a minute, but as soon as kids got crushed he said, this won't work and walked off.

Washington Nationals v Braves

Weather has really made this weekend rough. On Saturday we were ready to do outside before the 7:10 game and rain came and stopped and came and stopped, so finally we ventured out at 3;30 for Don Sutton as we have a few 50/50s left to complete.
We waited for him out back in our car, and sure enough he came in and signed. Due to the rain I fumbeled witht he umbrella and only got one card signed, but Sam got his three cards done.
Ah well, it started to rain again and I went home, Sm stayed with another graphing friend and they waited in the rain as batting practice was cancelled.
Gio said he would sign after bp and he is usually true to his word, but the rains came and he ran inside. Understandably but ah well.
Fernando Abad signed (1/1) we got him on a 2011 Topps rookie card. Sam and friend waited a bit longer but between standing outside Friday for Chipper and BP and the rain that was going on, Sam gave up. Turns out to be a good call as the game was a 5.5 hour affair.

Sunday, weather was better but not great since Saturday ended so late, we decided to give Mr Sutton a break. Sam went out as the gates opened and I attended to some errands. He said the crowd was much lighter and there were very few "regular' graphers out there today.
Inside BP
Drew Storen- (1/1)- 2012 Archives, got this one before but it is a great card
Craig Stammen- (1/1)- 2011 update? Not sure which he got
Stephen Strasburg (1/1)- 8X11- Made one of him in a suns uniform it came out so nice, he looked for a good spot to sign it. He is a good signer here, Sam said he was definitely choosing who he signed for though as a large adult friend of ours was in front an clearly skipped over. His very small girlfriend got him though.
Adam Laroche ( 1/1)- 2011 Topps funny now that we have broken the ice we have a few cards of his signed but it was a long time coming.

Heard a story that Bryce came out and signed outside pregame for another friend of ours. Haven't seen him to verify but he did not sign inside
Last visit by the Nats this season, sorry to see them go as we still have a few things to get signed, but we are now ahead of prep for 2014

My shop is near Georgia State University and they went back to class yesterday, I am a little busy at work so Sam was on his own. He and a friend got there for bp and got:

Braves:
Luis Ayala (2/2)- '12 Topps, '13 Topps
Joey Terdosovich- (2/2)- '12 Gwinnett Braves, '12 Lynchburg Hill tops All star card
Evan Gattis ( 1/1) 8X11 with Darth vader
Reed Johnson (1/1) 8X11 piture has Justin and BJ upton too , Already have Justin on it. BJ is left.

Indians:
Drew Stubbs (3/3)- 09 International League All Star card, '10 Topps, '12 Topps
Jason Kipnis- (1/3)- '11 International League Top Prospect Card
Lonnie Chisenhall (1/3)- '11 International League Top Prospect card
Justin Masterson ( 7/7)- '09, '10, '11,'12,'13 Topps,'12 Archive, '09 Upper Deck. He signed any and everything for everyone but engaged in a conversation with Sam for a while and signed all the cards Sam had on his page. Sam said, "wow,he is huge"
Carlos Santana ( 2/2)- 8x11 and Tribe Thumper card along with...
Asdrubel Cabrera (2/2)- Tribe Thumper '12 Heritage and an 8x11
Michael Bourn (3/3)- Signed an 8x11 from last years all star game that already has Chipper Jones signature on it now we need Wade Miley and Craig Kimbrel to complete. He liked the picture and Sam could tell so he offered him a copy of it as he had an extra. Bourn was very happy to get it and signed two cards for Sam on another page. On the page there was a Mike Aviles card too. Bourn saw it and laughed and said, " Get Mike iver here and show him this card, he will tell you a story".
Mike Aviles ( 6/6)- So, over comes Mike Aviles and Sam shows him the '11 Topps and says, "Bourn said I should ask you about this card" Aviles cracks up and says..."Bourn thinks all shortstops throw this way , so he tries to play short and throws like this every time in bp and he stinks!" Sam said , "Stand up to him and tell him to stick to Centerfield" Aviles, while signing all 6 cards Sam had said' "Yeah I should" and he laughed again. Kinda funny to us,

On Thursday Aug 29, 2013 we went to a signing with Trevor Bayne 2013 Daytona Champ. We each got two 8X11's of him in victory lane and I picked up a promo picture.
this was after we were able to get to the Evan Gattis Bobblehead night in Gwinnett.

Evan Gattis would not sign, he probably knew he was getting sent down

Marlins: Things started off great when we saw Andre 'the Hawk " Dawson was here. We have always heardhe comes up one series a year as he is a consultant fo the Marlins. But we never saw him before. We got a sweet spot a piece and I was very excited which I don't get very often.

We were waiting for Don Sutton to finish a few 50/50's and the rains came. Damn. No Sutton, No batting practice so no Andre Dawson. Oh well.

While waiting for the rain to end and the game to start Sam got Kris Medlen on the Braves team ball he is building. Medlen was doing a throw session between the rain drops.

Koy Hill signed a topps card on the Marlins side ('10 Topps)

Then in the 2nd inning they showed Former Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield on the big screen in the crowd. Sam went on a mission, found him, got a picture with and had him sweet spot a ball. Said he was Awesome and in a great mood. I had met him before and he was not in a great way so I was glad to hear that Sam liked meeting him.

Post Game outside
They was a post game concert with Big and Rich and Sam went to the players lot as the game was a short one. He got:
Craig Kimbrel (1/1, 1/1) 8X11 with 2012 All Stars Chipper Jones, Michael Bourn and Wade Miley, only needs Miley on it now and the other picture is of him pitching off the mound.
Jose Constanza (1/1) Team ball.

So the Marlins series netted us three Andre Dawson, 5 Don Suttons, 3 Giancarlo Stanton, 2 Craig Kimbrel, 2 Jose Fernandez and a slew of single graphs . Add to it Bruce Smith, Shawn Alexander and Evander Holyfield and it was one of our best weekends

Rain pregame again. No Sutton, oh well.

Inside, rain stopped, no one there, no batting practice. Braves pitchers are throwing over he goes.

Kris Medlen (1/1)- 8X11 calls Sam out in a funny manner saying, 'Man,you sUre like to graph" . We have a close mutual friend so it was all in jest.
Anthony Varvaro- (1/1) - 2012 Gwinnett Braves Card really nice signature with every letter looking clean. He scribbled someone else's team ball. It is a nice graph.
Scott Downs (4/4)- Banged out every card we had. '12 Topps, '10 UD, '10 Topps and '13 Topps. First time getting him. He was nice

On our 2nd Team ball of the year:

Mets side:

Zach Wheeler told people he wasn't signing while talking to a friend along the sideline ( as he is from the area and had friends here).
He also told them that Matt Harvey was not on this trip.

Went home after first pitch, but went back to post game as the weather was nice:

This turns out to be our last game of the homestand as we did not go tonight and tomorrow's game is at 12:10.
