Republican senator reverses his opposition to gay marriage...
WASHINGTON/CLEVELAND (Reuters) - Senator Rob Portman became the most prominent Republican lawmaker to back gay rights when he reversed his opposition to same-sex marriage on Friday, two years after his son told him he was gay.

He was opposed to it until he was affected by it.
Maybe it would be beneficial to have some of these conservatives have a son who needs a job, or witness a school shooting, or need universal health care, or need stem cell research, or die in a war,or have a gay son, or have a daughter get raped and need an abortion, or need a student loan, or need unemployment, or need food stamps...Last edited by maccards44; 03-16-2013 at 12:15 AM.

I'm glad he changed his mind, but it's evident that the only reason he did this was because of his son.
Other GOP members should think that EVERY gay man in the U.S is the son of a family, and they deserve the same rights we all have when it comes to marriage.Last edited by JustAlex; 03-16-2013 at 03:37 AM.

SO....let's see how the GOP and some christians react to this:
@1:58 the lovely lady says "I'm a product of the 1950s, when people that were homosexuals stayed in the closet.....and I'd really preferred it that way..."
Yeah...shocking to see them act this way.

Makes sense she'd prefer some things to be the way they were when she was growing up. Many would.

And that's why I don't care he's being selfish.
Like people who donate to the cancer society only after they are diagnosed with cancer. It's selfish reasoning, but comes to a justifiable end.

gets what? our economy is in the dumps, jobs are hard to get, more people on welfare than ever, people more divided than ever, government spending is out of control, we have more debt than we can handle, and we are fighting over homosexual's marriage rights?
maybe we need some priorities?
