    What Happens To Unopened Mail?

What do you think players do with unopened fan mail? Take a guy like Mariano Rivera. Everyone sends to him. You never see your stuff come back, no "sorry I get too many requests to sign" letter. Where do all our cards/balls/photos go? Do they just go straight into the trash? Does the clubhouse staff get to pick through it and take what they want?

Has anyone ever heard or read anything about what becomes of all the unopened items?

I've read stories about guys that go through their mail and just throw it away. As far as I know, most teams/players just trash it. Shareef Abdur-Rahim would open most of his mail, read it, then throw it away.

I lost several cards back in 2006 when I sent to a few Cardinals. Sent to Schilling and lost a card back when he was still playing.

But lately, unless I see players have a great success rate on the TTM manager, I won't risk it.

Yeah I actually sent to Shareef a few years ago with no response.

I know a couple of the locker room guys that worked during ST and they said Hanley Ramirez would do the same thing - open, read the mail & then just throw the stuff away...

I would only imagine the amount of mail that Mo got this Spring Training...must have taken one big trash bag to haul it all away.
