This is another attempt by atheist and Government to take God out Schools and Government yet want to keep the holiday and their down time, as if they do not have enough of that already. The fact is, they, who ever they are, want to change the definition of terms we have lived with for centuries. I hope those who believe in God start, putting their foot down.

They are terms you've lived with based on a faith-based indoctrination with the fear of personal harm, and reprisal. The lack of common sense is astounding. Start approaching daily life with a factual slant instead of dreaming of Bogie-Men. You wonder why you aren't taken seriously?

I believe in God and there is no reason to put my foot down. Whether or not gays can get married has no bearing on you, your beliefs or your ability to worship. Neither does any "religious" issue in government except the ability to worship itself. It's one thing to a vote against it due to religious beliefs, it's entirely another to whine and complain that the big bad atheists are taking the paganism out of "Christian" holidays.

Bill thinks it's unchristian to call Easter by any other name...yet Easter is named after a Pagan God...interesting.

I'm also going to point out that maybe the big bad secularists don't say anything about Ramadan or Jewish celebrations because they are honest.
Christmas is a lie and everything about it is a pagan tradition.
Easter is a pagan fertility festival celebrated with eggs and bunnies.
Tough to respect a religion whose most important days are pagan festivals, unless that religion is paganism.

No, because whatever it meant for ancient pagans, for Christians Easter isthe celebration of Christ’s Resurrection. The fact that when it was firstcelebrated the feast of the Resurrection coincided with pagan celebrationsdoesn’t mean it was derived from them. The Jewish Passover (on which Christ wascrucified) also coincided with such celebrations, yet this didn’t mean it waspagan.
As for Easter eggs, there’s nothing wrong with painting or hunting them onEaster--provided the real meaning of the day isn’t lost. As with the days ofthe week (the names of which are of pagan origin), any peculiarly pagansignificance attached to Easter eggs was forgotten centuries ago.

Would not a rose by any other name smell just as sweet?

Does not crap by any other name stink just the same?

As for paganistic meaning being forgotten, it's all about fertility. Eggs, rabbits, spring flowers. Rebirth and fertility. It's not forgotten at all. If it was, I couldn't tell you that. That's a brutal claim with no fact behind it whatsoever.

Paganism has tangible articles to attach itself to, How is pagan faith anything different than that of christianity, where you are given nothing in terms of sight or sound, yet your very existence is threatened if you do not have faith.?

Show me, I'm from Missouri. Lol
