Source: Carl Soderberg move blocked
The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation has blocked forward Carl Soderberg from joining the Boston Bruins, a source said Thursday.
Soderberg had reached an agreement Tuesday with the Bruins on a multiyear contract, and had been released by his Swedish team, Linkoping, according to a source, but the deal still had to be approved by the Swedish Hockey Federation.

Why is it so hard for these leagues to work together? If the SIHF doesn't want their players going to the NHL (or any other leagues) then why not prevent them from entering the draft in the first place.
It seems to me that if the team he was playing for it letting him go, then the league shouldn't have a whole lot to say otherwise..

The World Championship is a much bigger deal in Europe than North America. I know Russian players in the past (and now ex-NHLers) have stated that playing for their country in the World Championship is more important to them than playing for the Stanley Cup.
