EASTON, Pa. A man called 1 of the commonwealth's 10-most-wanted fugitives has been sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison in the stabbing death of a man during a game of dominoes nearly two decades ago in eastern Pennsylvania.

Fifty-year-old Francisco Miranda pleaded guilty on Friday in Northampton County Court to third-degree murder in the death of 30-year-old Jorge Antonio Velazquez, who was stabbed in the chest during a 1994 game of dominoes in Bethlehem.
The (Easton) Express-Times says Miranda apologized before he was sentenced to what was the maximum term for the charge at the time of the crime.

Authorities said Miranda was arrested at his mother's house in the Dominican Republic in November.

2 men arrested in killing over iPad in Las Vegas

Two men have been arrested in the killing of a teenage boy over an iPad in Las Vegas, police said Sunday.

Jacob Dismont, 18, and Michael Solid, 21, were booked Saturday into the Clark County jail on charges of open murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
According to investigators, Marcos Arenas, 15, was walking down a street with the iPad on Thursday when a passenger got out of a vehicle and tried to steal the device from him.
Dismont is accused of trying to wrest the tablet away and dragging Arenas toward the SUV when the youth wouldn't let go of the device. After Dismont re-entered the vehicle and Solid sped away, the teen was dragged until he fell. The vehicle ran over Arenas and he died at a hospital.
"I think both the public and police department share the same sentiment that this was a senseless act of violence," police spokesman Bill Cassell told The Associated Press.
The suspects succeeded in making off with the device, officers said, but it was not immediately recovered.
Ivan Arenas said he bought the iPad for his son less than two months ago. The family has never had a lot, the father said, and his son valued everything he had.

According to investigators, Solid has an arrest record of possession of a stolen vehicle, petty larceny, robbery and assault. Dismont does not have any prior adult arrests.
Arenas family spokeswoman Tabitha Guertler said family members are relieved by the arrests and grateful for the quick response by police and the public.
"We are very, very relieved and grateful that these men have been apprehended and can't hurt anyone else," she said. "We're traumatized. Marcos' loss is something that will be with us forever. He was such an incredible person."
The oldest of 10 children in the family, the teen was a student at Bonanza High School. The attack occurred in the late afternoon about a half-mile from the school.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. A Chambersburg man has been jailed for abusing his girlfriend's 6-month-old baby, according to police.
State police said they charged 21-year-old Dustin W. Sipes, of the 300 block of Cosell Drive, with aggravated assault and simple assault.
The child had been taken to the emergency room of Chambersburg Hospital and was later transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where a doctor found he had suffered numerous broken bones, police said in a news release Tuesday.
The injuries included fractures to both legs, the baby's right arm, and several ribs.
Authorities said some of the injuries were recent and others were in various stages of healing, and all were consistent with child abuse.
The abuse is estimated to have happened over the last 2-3 months, police said.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The New Mexico teenager accused of fatally shooting his parents and three younger siblings told authorities he was annoyed with his mother and had been having homicidal and suicidal thoughts, according to a probable cause statement.

Nehemiah Griego, 15, remained in custody Monday on charges of murder and child abuse resulting in death. He was arrested following the shootings Saturday at a home in a rural area southwest of Albuquerque where he lived with his family.

Griego told the detective that his brother did not believe him that their mother was dead so he showed his mother's bloody face to his brother and then shot him, according to the statement.

He's accused of then shooting his two young sisters in their room. He retrieved an AR-15 rifle from his parents' closet and waited in a downstairs bathroom for his father to come home. The statement said he shot his father multiple times after he passed the bathroom doorway.

The teen said he reloaded the guns so "he could drive to a populated area to murder more people," according to the statement.

His plan, the statement said, was to "shoot people at random and eventually be killed while exchanging gunfire with law enforcement."

Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Aaron Williamson said Monday he couldn't immediately comment on the document.

A doozy

A 25-year-old Washington state man is charged child assault after he put his 6-week-old daughter in the freezer to shut her up then fell asleep until the mother came home. Tyler James Deutsch is facing multiple charges related to the incident, authorities said. The baby remained in the freezer long enough for her body temperature to drop to 84 degrees, police said.
Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist charged Deutsch with first-degree child assault, first-degree criminal mistreatment and interfering with the reporting of a domestic violence incident.
Baby Was Crying
The baby girl also suffered a broken arm and leg and had a head injury. The charges against Deutsch are preliminary and there may be additional charges, Lindquist told reporters.
Deutsch and the baby's mother live together in a trailer in Roy, Washington. On Saturday, the mother left the baby alone with Deutsch from about 1:30 until 3:30 p.m., according to police reports.
Deutsch told investigators that he was tired and the baby was crying, so he placed her in the freezer and closed the door. Then in fell asleep and did not awaken until the mother returned to the trailer.

Los Angeles police say a 26-year-old man arrested in the stabbing death of an 11-year-old boy is the child's stepfather. Officer Sarah Faden says the man was booked Tuesday for investigation of murder after being released from a hospital. His name has not been released.
The young victim died from his stab wounds Monday following a family dispute at an apartment in the Westlake District.
Investigators say the alleged attacker also was wounded during the struggle. He was taken to a hospital for treatment under police custody.
Two other people were in the home at the time of the stabbing. It was unclear how they were connected to the boy and his stepfather.
