packs/boxes vs singles

i havent bought a pack or box in over a month, lately ive been using that money and just been buying as many gu/autos of stars, players i like, tradebait and nice looking cards as i can. i don't care for base and although i like rookies, i'm more into the nicer cards. basically, i'll still buy a pack or maybe a box of newer product, especially when 06 football come out trying to get the rookies and the WWE heritage chrome as i am going to look to put that base set together as a WWE fan, but i feel singles give me a lot more bang for my buck..why buy a box when you can get 1 or 2 gu when for that same amount you can buy about 20 of them and pick what you want? thats my take.

I too have been buying more singles lately. I still enjoy the surprise of pack-busting though. And after all, the singles we buy all come from packs, so somebody's gotta open 'em.

haha, let the dealers and big spenders do it...they don't want the antoine walkers and deuce mccallisters anyway...they just try and get the hot lebron or cadillac williams autos, and could sell us our stuff cheap!

Since I'm a player collector I don't touch packs/boxes. The chances of pulling cards of the people I collect is near impossible. Busting packs is fun but I've had the worst luck so I just gave up on them. The only time I would bust a box again is if I wanted to collect that set.

its just so fun to pull cards from a box lets say you got a box of topps football for 75.00 you pull 200.00 alex smith auto gu you make 125.00 if you buy that card you pay 200.00 you save 75.00 you can buy 2 boxes


but you may not get the alex smith auto but it was fun have a good day

im a huge fan of packs but now im into singles due to a string of base and no name rookies.

i would say singles buying is the cheaper route but there,s no greater rush than busting a pack and pulling a nice high end card just my opinion take care spuds

It's a double-edged sword.

If you buy singles, then you know what you are getting and will be happy. Also a much better chance that you get value for your money.

If you buy boxes/packs, you may end with a great pull and feel it was well worth it. And as spuds mentioned opening packs/boxes is a huge rush and what this hobby is all about.

This is the wrong hobby to make money but I can understand being frustrated over consistently getting shafted with products you pay for.

i havent bought singles in a long A** time. I bust packs and boxes. I just like the thrill and the suprise of it. Unlike most people I dont want the cad's I want the low serialed cards, rookies, gu's and memrobelia. I'm sure I will be buying singles in the near future to complete my sets but I love pack busting. I dont look at it as a money making hobby. To me its not. When you get that one great hual then it's all worth it and you can justify it to your wife once more but your not always that lucky.

Welp im one of those guys you love, I bust boxes ALL the time for the big haul and just pawn off the little stuff LOL but i do it so much its justafyable cause i'll lose money 4 or 5 boxes straight and then hit a huge one that pays those back and the next few LOL and just keeps goin back an forth, but im also the kinda collector who likes putting high volume RC sets together for future should any of these guys BLOW UP (kinda the deal like when TOM Brady's SP Authentic card came out, it was one of the easier ones to pull an now look!)

But at the same time it gets frustrating and I agree that in a sence it is nice to buy singles and know exactley what your getting and your gettin your money's worth!!!
