My 2 worst experiences were both, ironically, in scranton for AAA.

Wil Myers this weekend is pretty close to the worst. Maybe just because it's freshest in my mind. Story here:

    https://www.sportscardforum.com/threa...1#post12748837

The other one was back the year Chapman signed and was in the minors. I was waiting outside for him after the game, by the bus. A little girl was there with her dad, and 5-6 other graphers.

Chapman comes out with a police escort on foot. Seriously. They escort him to the bus, and put him on. He won't sign for anyone, even the crying little girl holding a baseball in his face. No one.

He gets on the bus and puts his headphones in. The little girl and her dad hold the ball up to him in the window seat right where he can see it. He continues ignoring her. Finally, his translator comes out to the bus and sees this PR nightmare, and says "whats wrong honey?"

she says "he wont sign my ball"

he says "hang on a minute."

The translator brings the ball onto the bus and chapman signs it. As he is coming back off the bus to bring the ball to the girl, the AAA manager says "You shouldn't do that. Girl has to learn the word NO."

The girl's dad almost had to be restrained from storming onto the bus and killing the manager. He was yelling at him like how dare you tell me how to raise my child and mind your own business, etc.

The manager was a former player, but to this day I can't remember his name.

The girl got her graph, but it was the worst night I've ever had.

I encountered Tom Seaver at Shea Stadium more than 10 years ago and in the rain, with me as a 10 year old kid and the only kid trying to get an autograph, he rejected me by placing his hand in my face and looking away. It was unnecessarily disrespectful for a Met legend to a kid.

My second worst was Chris Kunitz of the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Nassau Coliseum last season. Visiting players cross a long street from the hotel to the arena, and the vast majority of them sign. The others respectfully say no, some sign only one or two, and the real stars will take a private shuttle bus over (Crosby does this). Chris Kunitz walked out of the hotel, and after receiving two autograph requests, began to literally run next to a fence while shielding himself and yelling "get the hell away you vultures". Extremely odd.

    2 I can think of:

#2. Adrian Peterson, rookie year, comes off the practice field and I am right where they come off, against a fence, it's crowded so I can't move around. Anyways he comes off with Artose Pinner, and some dumb a$$e$ decide to start chanting "Artose! Artose! Artose!" (Like are you $hittting me?) So he comes over to right where I am and starts signing meanwhile AP goes about 10 people down and starts signing and heading away from where I am, long story short AP doesn't come back to sign for the people he missed, I couldn't move and I end up with a crap 1 cent autographed Artose Pinner card. As for why that's only #2, I ended up getting AP 3 times in the next year, including once on that same training camp trip.

#1. Last season Ben Reverre had a free signing at the local Twins Pro shop. I leave and it's sunny. It's like 10 minutes away, I get there an hour early or so and there is a line going behind the mini mall, now most Twins Pro Shops signings I've been to, in fact all previous ones I walked in and out with in 10 minutes. Anyways, I'm standing there for like maybe 5 minutes, then all the sudden it starts pouring rain. Like raining sideways, I'm like "F this" I go back to the car, sit for a bit, get ready to finally leave and it stops. I get back out and am farther back now. It drizzles on and off until I finally get in there, get up to him he starts signing and I realize as I hand the card to him, I totally forgot to rub down the card, so it didn't even turn out worth keeping.

Bonus: Went to a free Kevin Love signing 2 years ago. He was 2 hours late, then when he arrived and I got up to the front he wouldn't look up at anyone and had someone there whom you told what color and where to have him sign. Then she gave him the color sharpie you picked and pointed it to him (cause us fans are incapable, right?)

My worst IP experience was Ric Flair...When he was with WCW there was a show at a place where I used to live, Ric pulls in in a limo and the driver pulls the limo down to the lower level of the place where there was a garage door..At the end of the night when the show was over myself and some friends I was with decided we were going to try to get Ric to sign a magazine he was on the cover of..He comes out with 3 security guards and when my friend asked him if he would sign our magazines he goes into a tirade cussing and swearing at everyone, including the security guards telling them to get the morons away from him...Ed

I have 3 IP incidents that really grind my gears BUT one that was far beyond (in a good way) what could have been expected by a player.

The Good... in 2008, I was standing by the DBacks backstop with a bunch of people trying to get some sigs. Dan Haren came along and boom.... I got his auto. Mark Reynolds (now with the Yankees) was standing at the cage waiting his BP turn. One of the kids yelled and asked if Mark could sign. Mark said, "after BP." So.. Mark does his thing and after he starts heading to the dugout. Halfway there, he had that "oh, I forgot something" turn during his jog. He stopped and signed for the kid then signed for me. After he signed my minibat, he looked at the kid and took off his batting gloves and hat and gave them to him. I was in shock and awe that a player actually did that and I witnessed it. I still remember the look on the kid's face. Mark truely showed class that day.

    3. It might seem not so-bad but....At August 28th 2013, Padres vs DBacks game. I showed up almost two hours early in hoes of attaining some autos. The DBacks had a few players sign but too far from my position by their Dugout. About 5 mins before game start, A.J.Pollock came by and started signing for three people next to me. There was a kid, about 7-9, standing beside me and when Pollock came by, I motioned and said to sign for the kid first. He scribbled on the card, and I say scribbled because I know Pollocks AUTO, then took off in a sprint back to the dugout. There were about 10 other people standing there like, "did this really just happen?"

    2. DBacks pitcher Trevor Cahill was warming up at Turner Field in June 2013. He wasn't pitching that day but just out warming up. Me, being a huge DBack fan and the only one in a DBacks jersey, had my 3 yr old son with me. I called for Cahill and asked if he would please sign. He said "hold on." About 10 mins later, still standing in the same spot, my son had to use the restroom. I left for 3 mins.... 3 MINS and in that time he signed for all the Braves fans.... There is no way that 3 min span was a coincidence that he happened to sign and go back into the dugout. The bright side was that Will Nieves came out and signed my son's baseball, making Will the first AU my son got in person. I can only hope he gets interested in sports and collecting like I did.

#1. The biggest "jerk" award, for me, goes to one player that I have lost any and all respect for. In 2003, I was at a Giants vs. Dbacks game. I brought a ball just to test out whether or not I could get some autos. Typically, I stand clear of the opposing team because, like I said, I am a huge DBacks fan. In 2003, the DBacks players would actually position themselves around the field to do autos. There were three other kids standing by the Giants dugout awaiting the DBacks players when a certain high-profile player came walking by. The kids were excited and I wanted to see if I could get his auto as well. When the kids asked for an autograph, the player said, "F^&* No" and kept walking.

    ... THAT PLAYER WAS.....

    BARRY BONDS.
