This. My strategy as well. I've never felt that I've gotten cheated by listing it at .99. Also, you get early bidding action, which is exciting!

As a buyer and seller for me the biggest thing is the crazy shipping prices people try to sneak into those $.99 auctions. They'll start at $.99 then want $3-$5 for shipping when a #000 bubble envelope with one card in a top loader will never be more than $2 topps. I'm sorry I'm just not paying more for shipping than I'm going to pay for the card most likely if it's just a base card and even most base auto's only go for around $5 now days.
Just do a BIN w/ Best Offer and take what the bottom dollar amount is you are willing to take for the card and double that amount and see if anybody bites. If not you slowly lower the price $.25 or $.50 until you get to that amount you are willing to take.
