Why not take a picture of the cards once they are produced?

Simple. UD needs to do what Panini does. The backs of the swatches on Panini cards have authentication information. ITG has done it as well.

Just do like Ice Scripted swatches where they have the jersey inside the card underneath a clear plastic window. You can see the swatches perfectly and theres absolutely no way to change the swatches. Only downside is you can't touch the swatch if thats important to you or not. Or the companies could pull an ITG and slab high end releases like the Cup and Dominion like ITG does with Ultimate.

I've always liked that... I know the cards are super protected but imaging pulling some crazy /10 card and the corner was bent because some dummy dropped the tin. If you're charging $500 a pack slab the cards! Buttttt that's a diff threat for a diff day

I've always wondered why the manufacturers can't just put a little innovation into the type of glue they use. Lots of stores use those price tags with all the perforations built in so that you cant peel a price tag off a cheaper item and scam them out of a more expensive item... There must be something clever manufacturers can do along those lines. Maybe cut the swatches larger than the window, poke holes near the edges of the swatch and let enough glue seep through it and bond to the cardboard around the window so that you'd have to destroy the card to remove the swatch... Or there must be some super adhesive like crazy glue that they could invest in... Crazy thought but what about sewing the swatch to a piece of cardboard then glue the printed fronts and backs to it... Or use a stamping machine after the card is assembled to depress the edge of the window nice and tight to the swatch so that you'd likely destroy the edge trying to yank the swatch...

I'm actually curious about the legality here... The manufacturers print a guarantee on the backs of their cards that the game-used memorabilia is authentic, do they not bear some legal responsibility for fakes? They have to be aware of the potential for fakes given its been going on for several years and one could argue they aren't taking sufficient steps to ensure the authenticity of the products that they are guaranteeing. As Jerry Seinfeld would say, it's easy to take a reservation, it's the holding of the reservation that is the important part.

Just stop to making super-thick cards with deep windows for the memorabilia pieces.
How many faked ITG there are on the market?

Just because that ITG's cards are for mostly so much thinner so it's almost impossible to make
a patch forging job then compared with especially UD's cards.

I'm sure the guarantee is only that is authentic out of the pack. There's no way they can be held accountable for what happens on the secondary market.
I think an online database is the least they can do, especially for high end stuff - I wonder how much return they see on a case of the cup? I think it was leaf or ITG that announced in LV that they would do an online picture database next year.

Nice idea, but one impossible to actually create. I had a similar idea a couple years ago. Just too much logistical work involved, regardless of how much Panini or Upper Deck "cares about us." ;)
