The U.S has been obsessed over this "war on terror" they themselves have helped propagate.
The government should not be listening to our phone calls or reading our email or looking up what websites we visit.
Saying that it's in the name of "security" has been the excuse that totalitarian dictatorships have used for centuries.

I don't think he wants more intrusive government just pointing out that the government supposedly only sees phone call numbers and length of phone call (nothing more according to them) and they are suppose to figure out who is a terrorist. But these guys were brought to the attention of the FBI/CIA by Russia. They looked into the brothers and found "nothing". If you can't find a terrorist when one is pointed out to you how are you going to find one going through billions of random data? Probably why they haven't stopped anyone using it.
