Flyers and Mark Streit agree to four-year deal

As we noted below, the reported deal of $5.25 million per year would put the Flyers over the maximum allowed spending for the 2013-14 season, so chances are they just can't announce it until they also announce their plans to buy out Briere and/or Bryzgalov. But there's your status report in the meantime.

Mind-boggling that they're not only giving him a 4-year deal but also a raise off what he made on Long Island. I remember Streit as a power play specialist and not much beyond that; granted, that could have been poor personnel management by the Habs during that time period. Still, to give that type of term & dollars to 35-year old Mark Streit....yikes, Philly.

My exact thoughts, when I think of d-men who deserve that much $ per year, he doesn't come to mind. I personally think he'd deserve around 4 mil a year at most, there's not much more behind him than his offense. Philly might regret this one in a couple years

Briere's gone, so that solves the money issue. Doesn't solve the problem of the Flyers being on crack and doing dumb things but hey, eventually they'll get it together right guys?
