Serena quote
Serena Williams says she's reaching out to the family of the victim in the Steubenville rape case after the tennis star was quoted in a Rolling Stone article saying "she shouldn't have put herself in that position."
So like Rob PArker,Chris Broussard and Roy Hibbert this did not cause MEGA controversy.Hence the double standard we all talk about.Yes it is great Serena apologized but only under scrutiny.

So what exactly are you suggesting here?

I am not suggesting anything it is kind of clear there is a double standard which is wrong. Not saying anybody here is like that so let's not start a thread war.If Maria Sharapova made these comments would it be bigger news? And be honest maybe you don't think that and that is ok.I just see a few instances in the past months where comments are made and kind of get let go.

If Maria would have made those comments people would have cared even less.

Veg, he's right.
It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with fame/popularity though.

Jimmy the Greek made racist comments about blacks as a whole. Rob Parker questioned one black person in particular even though there was no basis for his questioning him. Big difference.

How would Maria would have been labled racist of she is white and the rape victim is white also?

I don't really think she apologized from what I read. She made some sort of comment eluding to the fact that she really didn't say what was quoted in the interview, but didn't really come out and say that exactly. I saw it as a non-apology apology.
