Yes there's a long way to go, but that shouldn't detract from the fact that this is a huge step towards the ultimate end. Possibly the biggest, when all is said and done.

More hilarious reactions from "the other side":
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/news/gay...181514634.html
“Today is a tragic day for marriage and our nation," Cardinal Timothy Dolan and Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone said in a joint statement representing U.S. bishops. "The Supreme Court has dealt a profound injustice to the American people by striking down in part the federal Defense of a profound injustice to the American people by striking down in part the federal Defense of Marriage Act. The Court got it wrong."
^A cardinal talking about "injustice"....hilarious that ANYONE involved with the Catholic Church would talk about injustice.
WAIT....there's more...
"Today’s Supreme Court opinions on marriage are a stunning and indefensible display of judicial activism."
^Ralph Reed, chairman of the Faith & Freedom Coalition.
*I wonder if he thought it was "judicial activism" with yesterday's ruling on voting....I doubt it*
"We are deeply saddened by today’s decision to not only allow but encourage same-sex marriage in our country—a country that was founded on biblical principles. We mourn for America’s future, but we are not without hope ... Our next line of defense is to vigorously protect our religious liberty. The homosexual lobby and agenda is running rampant across America, and is even pervading our elementary schools. "
^Tim Wildmon, president of American Family Association
*Yes Tim, America's future is over now that gays can get married and receive benefits in certain states....goodness sake these people are flat out stupid*Last edited by JustAlex; 06-26-2013 at 04:42 PM.

In 100 years hopefully this mentality will be all but dead, and you won't be able to run for any kind of office based on any type of bigotry, or any bias, be it size, age, race, vocation, sex.
What I hope to see through all of this is tall people thinking that anybody under 6 feet is fair game for their bigotry. This and age bias are still very much with us and accepted daily in the form of jokes, threats.
Bullying in society based on size, and bullying older people have to be the next 2 things to be addressed, as we are not learning from the hurt caused by this behaviour.

Comments from the two biggest conservatives....Crazy Glenn Beck and Rush:
"The government should not be in the marriage business, period," - Glenn Beck.
Ok Glenn, then give up your federal benefits to YOUR marriage.
"I do not get my value on marriage from the state—I get my value on marriage from God." - Glenn Beck
Ok Glenn, then what the hell is the problem then? you will continue to get your value from god, what changed?
"The court is no different than a bar room now," -Rush
What the hell does that even mean?
"Now we are told that the whole country supports gay marriage and those that don't are bigots. That was in the Supreme Court ruling today—that people that oppose gay marriage are bigots, and want to deny, and want to make fun of, and want to impugn and want to demean homosexuals. Why do we even need a court if it's going to behave like this?" - Rush
First of all no one says that the whole country supports gay marriage, Rush is a perfect example of someone that doesn't. And Rush IS a bigot when it comes to homosexuals, many times in the past he has said many degrading and hurtful things to the gay community, now he wants to act as if he simply has a disagreeing opinion, that is NOT the case.

I have one more hilarious reaction:
"Supreme Court overrules God, Won't be long before they outlaw the Bible as hate speech. How long before federal agents haul pastors out of the pulpit?"
-Fox News commentator Todd Starnes
^This guy never got the memo that here in the U.S, HUMANS make the laws not "god".

There will always be bias toward some groups, always.
I don't have an issue with people being opposed to this, it is their right. I am against abortion and it is a law and people can easily say I am sexist for it. I would disagree, in fact, I have been called a feminist more than once.
I am not saying it is a good thing to be against gay marriage, I am sure some just hate homosexuals, I am sure some are just following their in-group, and I am sure some may be against gay marriage but don't hate homosexuals.
I think the next step is to force all states and even take it a it further. Anyone who is licensed to perform a marriage or has any legal function in a marriage must be willing to marry homo and hetero sexuals.
Also I think now is the time for the bigamists to make their move, they should have equal rights as well.
