Maybe a trade happens with letang involving a top pick. I do like the picks though I agree with most of them but Hunter Shinkaruk may go a little higher.

The positions are fine, but do you really believe that Andrej Sekera and his 2.75 cap hit is that much an upgrade over McBain that he will warrant a jump up of 3 spots?

Keep hearing that Tampa wants Nichushkin at #3, and Drouin will end up with the Preds.
Hope you're wrong with the Oilers grabbing Nurse too, unless they trade down a slot or two.
I realize they need defense, but any dman picked this draft, other than Jones, will not be playing top level NHL minutes for at least 3 years, and probably longer. Nurse does nothing to address the team's needs this year, next year, and probably the year after. If we're talking about a "long term" asset, the Centre that will still be available at that slot (I'm hoping for Monahan, but would be happy with Lindholm. Would be shocked if Barkov still on the board) is better for them in both the short term, and long term.
Truth be told though, my hoping for Monahan is still just second choice. I'm hoping they package the #7 up with another asset or two, and get some established talent.

Just because he's not a higher paid player doesn't mean he isn't valuable. Sekera will never be a Norris candidate. But he does play all 3 phases and can be a top 4 guy. For the Sabres he is now, but with McNabb and Pysyk ready to step in, sekera is the easiest move for the Sabres to another team.
As for Mcbain, I don't think he is a top 4 guy, but is a very good player for a power play

If that does happen, the first round might take 4+ hours because that would set off all kinds of action... Including the Oilers
As for a dman... If the oil were to package Paajarvi and the rights to Omark with the 7th pick, that might land a pretty solid dman

I believe New Jersey either moves down and takes Fucale or takes him @ 9
Letang and the Oilers seem like a match if he does not sign with the Pens

I can't image that they would take Fucale at 9 but if they moved back to 13-16, then it is possible the devils would select him. Besides the Devils and the Isles, Calgary is the only other team thatcher use a 1st on Fucale
