hey everyone!
i write a cardboard commentary every week on my blog. this week i talked about card budget. if you want to check the article out, here is the link:

this might be a touchy subject, but i wonder how everyone on here budgets for their cards. i know i had a real problem a few years back when it came to overspending. love to hear you thoughts!

Lol, pretty much every dollar of my disposable income goes into cards. I laugh at myself regularly when i have an extremely hard time dropping $500 for a new suit, but have no issues buying a tin of The Cup!

Great article and describes exactly what I (and probably many others) went through growing up. I remember dropping a lot of money when I was in University at the LCS (gotta love student loans) and today looking back realize just what a waste it was at times. I still bust a little bit of wax but certainly have learned the importance and value of money. It's good to get these stories out there so that the next generation hopefully exercises a little more restraint than we did. Great read and great story. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, good timing reading that article. I'm 32 years old, single dad (the boy is 5) and have recently rediscovered card collecting. I'm an early 90's UD kid so dipping back into the game is like christmas everyday. For me and my son, he absolutely loves it and it's something we share. I give him the base cards naturally. Man oh man isn't it crazy how fast it can get out of control, 4 boxes of UD1 2012/13 in 2 weeks which is peanuts compared to the Sens cards I've bought online. I have an SP Authentic and Cup problem. I've since calmed down and we buy into box breaks online and that seems to fill the void. I haven't found one person in Ottawa who collects so it's me and the boy running solo. So much I've learned so fast...the big one is slow down...theres just so many cards I want it drives me crazy. Much more wholesome than my older vices though and just another thing to share my son is how I always justify a Cup RC hahaha. Love this site and the posts I read to share the passion.

Really enjoyed that article. I went through a phase in my early 20's with the credit card too. I collect now, but I refuse to go into debt for the hobby. I bought a house with my girlfriend last year, and we have no debt other than my Jeep and the house. I recently made a huge PC purchase, and had to put it on my card, so I don't buy anything else until its paid off. It was just a one time, one shot thing that I couldn't pass up.
Everyone learns the hard way that credit cards are awesome, until the bill comes at the end of the month. Just stay within your means. You may not get everything you want, but you enjoy what you do get a lot more.

Great article, it is easy to overwhelm yourself very quickly - especially with all the different sets available, multiple levels of parallels, inserts, etc...
I live in the Ottawa area as well.

Fortunately my card budget comes entirely from selling other cards... If it didn't, I'd have a very unhappy fiancée.
Also, just to join the Ottawa club going on in this thread, I'm from Orleans.

Great Article, I can relate greatly to this as i justed graduated from college and i am addicted to the hobby where im living pay check to pay check to support my spending habit....not to mention i work 65 hrs a week. My parents always get on me to save money while im young an not make the mistakes they made... think after reading this it is finally sinking in. Thanks for the read and showing others the problems that can occur if we get "too" into the hobby and how we can learn from our mistakes.
