Vincent Lecavalier to the Philadelphia Flyers

    5 years, $23.5M

I will refrain from any editorial comment, other than to say I'm disappointed.

Dump briere, get vinny? That's a pretty good upgrade for the Flyers.

Very disappointed too. I don't see him fit well with the Flyers.

I like the move. I see most people hating on it but it's an upgrade and there's not a whole lot out there we can do at this point other than trade for a Dman/Goalie. Im not in love with the number of years though.

Seems so random of a choice.

Philly isn't exactly short on centers and forces one of their young ones (schenn/couturier) to th wing, it's a market he has no ties to, the team's goaltending is, once again, a major question mark which throws in to question their chances to contend. The money isn't even that big either, I thought he would have gotten more.

    Yeah, random.

Briere is better suited for the Flyers than Vinny, just my 2 cents. Vinny's a little younger, mind, but Holmgren still has a greasy wallet that won't stay put. The length is laughable. 2 Years tops.

I don't know how Snider puts up with his reckless habits of throwing cash around. He's vying for the Mike Milbury stupidity award.

I hate Holmgren and want him gone and Holmgren got the job b/c he's a former Flyer and Snider is an absurd amount of loyal to the alumni. He'll never get fired until more of the fans start to realize that Holmgren needs to go and start making it known that that's what needs to happen. Honestly, there needs to be an Andy Reid amount of hatred of this guy before he MIGHT get the axe. The only problem is if Holmgren ever gets fired then Snider's just going to hire another former Flyer. On a similar topic, Holmgren/Snider are living in the Broad St. Bullies era still. Some of this team is big/gritty and like to hit and can be compared to the Bullies. We need a change of guard which will not happen for a long time, if ever, at this rate.

Ah so disapointed, Lacavalier clearly wants nothing to do with Montreal. I say 2 years before another contract buyback

He realizes that the pressure in Montreal on him would be enormous. Anything less than a Beliveau type showing would have him booed off the ice on a nightly basis.

I lived 3 years in Mtl and had corporate season tickets to the Habs. Fans are beyond in impatient in Montreal. They watch Hockey, pass by pass and save by save. They have no memory of the previous play, even if it was the best play of the year.

Maybe Hab fans need a taste of missing the playoff for say 15 straight years to teach them a needed lesson in humility.
