    97-98 Zenith Dare To Tear

So I just purchased a lot of 10 Uncut 97-98 Zenith Dare To Tear 5x7 cards. I plan on opening them when they arrive. However, I could use some advice. How do I cut these open without doing any serious damage to either card?

    Let me know,
    Alexander

I would go with a straightedge / ruler and a razor blade / Xacto knife. You can feel where the outlines of the inserted card are. Make a small (shallow) cut first to make sure you open the "pouch" without going all the way through and cutting the front of the card.

    Loved those cards!

Back in the day, I would usually hold the edge of the big card bewteen my thumb and index finger, and knock hands to make sure I pushed the inner card all the way down (not sure if I'm doing a great job describing that act, but basically the same thing you would do to get a card in penny sleeve inside a top loader all the way).

A razor to the back of the card is the best way to do it, if you're worried about keeping the 5x7 in tact.

Just for curiosity sake - are one of the 5x7s a Manny Maholtra RC ?? I only ask becuase I do recall getting three of these back in the day, and getting a Mark Messier base card inside each one. Would be interested in knowing if it wasn't just me, lol.

No, one of them is not a Malhotra RC 5x7. I have one of the regular uncut 5x7's of Malhotra in my PC already. I don't plan on cutting it though, I made a promise to the guy who gave it to me as a gift that I wouldn't cut it. If I do find another one, I'll cut that one, and let you know what the content is. I'm really hoping to get lucky with these 10, and pull a Malhotra Z-Gold /100 for the PC

Fisskars trimmer from Walmart or Staples. I use it to cut my custom cards. $15-20

if you hold the card up to a high wattage light bulb you can sometimes see through the 5 X 7 card and see what the base card inside is. I still have an uncut Manny Maholtra RC, I will hold it up to the light to see what is inside. It must have been a base card because it never got cut. I also though Maholtra would be one of the top two way forwards over the next decade when he came out and that the card would be of value someday so I never cut it. I forgot that I still had it!

Is it possible to see through 10-11 Zenith 5X7 too?

So I just tried this with my uncut Elias, Lecavalier and Luongo cards...I can definitely see the card inside but it is just a grey mass, no way for me to tell what it is. Is there a trick I am missing?
