2012 All Time Greats Sports Edition

Cases are on sale at Dave and Adams for $999, 6 tin case. To me this seems like a ridiculous deal, however sometimes this stuff can be deceiving, what do other people think? Here's a link to the sale if anyone is interested.

It's not a bad deal, but your success is going to be heavily dependent on pulling the right autos. If you land a Lebron or Jordan, you're in good shape, but there are some duds in there when it comes to sale prices.

I've seen Magic selling in the $50 range, and Lemieux around $70, and none of these autos seem to be very coveted. The problem with the basketball pieces is that all the players are pictured in their college (or high school) jerseys, so a Jordan isn't going to command much when compared to him in a Bulls jersey. I think the product has a nice design - I own a few of the booklets in my basketball PC - but I'm not too sure what kind of return you'd see.

I was wondering about that, too. Why no pro jerseys / teams for the MLB, NBA or NFL? Even the Gretzky card (at least the ones shown) does not show any pro logos. If I didn't know better, judging by all the head shot photos, I'd say this was an ITG release.

Yes, it's all about hitting the "right card". But with the list of 20 players only in this product, I'd be crazy happy to pull autos of 15 out of the 20 players. I ordered two cases, I'll post my breaks.

It'll be interesting to see what you get...I've watched quite a few box breaks of that product and at that price point it is tempting, but Craig's points above are valid.

I'm assuming the hockey players in the product are in international uniforms because Upper Deck is only allowed to produce a certain number of NHL-licensed products each year, and this would put them over that quota.

For the other sports, Upper Deck just doesn't have licenses. Panini has exclusive NBA rights, Topps has exclusive MLB rights through 2020, and Upper Deck lost NFL rights a few years ago. Check out their latest football releases - all of them have guys like Luck and RG3 in their college uniforms, heavily limiting their appeal. So for this product, they really didn't have a choice.

If you pull a Bird, Jordan or Lebron, I'd be interested. Just avoid the Sorenstam and Kelly Slater autos!

that is a steal considering you get a chance at Lebron, Tiger and MJ autos in the same product. You should have loaded up on more cases.

lol, I know, I've been thinking about calling DA to see if they would still honor the price.
