Mail carrier issues
This may be a little off-topic, but I need to vent!
I recently bought a collection of 2011 Five Star cards to re-sell some and keep some. Easy enough, right? WRONG. For the past two weeks two of the four packages I was supposed to receive went to the wrong zip code and took an extra week to finally get here. The third package (a lot of 1200 cards) was not delivered because the carrier was too lazy, so he left a "notice" to pick it up at the P.O. the following day. I was in the yard doing work and he didn't even need to come all the way to my front door (20 steps). In addition to that, they have not been taking my Netflix that I put out!
The Five Star lot is the fourth. Lots of amazing cards included. It was shipped with delivery confirmation and it went out for delivery yesterday. I waited and waited and waited outside so I knew I could pick it up. The carrier did not even come by yesterday. However, last night when I checked the D.C. online it said "notice left". I searched all over and there was no notice. After going to the PO this morning, a very helpful employee gave me an address and number to call for their annex of my neighborhood. I called...let it ring 15+ times and finally talked to a manager. He said the box is sitting right there and he will personally make sure it goes out today and "talk to" the new carrier. He was pretty angry. I kept my cool because I really just want my stuff.
Does anyone else have extensive problems with their local carrier/usps? I've lost hundreds of dollars of cards over the years because of this and sellers do not offer signature confirmation more often than not. Sorry for the long post, but this is a major issue for me and I don't want to be the only one!

update:
They didn't deliver them again after the phone call, so I called immediately after and was hung up on quickly. So I called AGAIN and the guy put me on hold for ~10 minutes and had to call the carrier to deliver it. He was refusing because it was "too heavy". It was a 6'4" or so kid. I told him it needed to be delivered today or I would be at their office tomorrow. He raised his voice and started yelling at me and they finally delivered it!
Please tell me I'm not the only one who deals with this crap.

I had my issues over time from a package taking 6 months to get delivered. Recently i had a package delivered, or so it stated by the tracking number. My upstairs neighbors didn't have it, then it appears the next day. Just enough to make me worry that I would be out the cards as it had tracking but no insurance.

sorry to hear this about your local mail people. seems like the rudeness/laziness is up the chain of command in your area.
personally for me I give a Christmas gift to my mail carrier every year. Don't know if it helps in getting packages not damaged, on time, and the like but I like to think so. haven't had any problems with my carrier or the local office ever yet.

What a mess. More sooner than later we will be a UPS/FedEx-only country I hope.

If it were me, I'd be contacting someone higher up the "food chain" to report them. It's no wonder the post office is constantly losing money if this is there idea of customer service!

Yea the PO is pretty much the sorriest excuse for a "business". Anyone ever wondered this, lets say you work for a delivery company and a package that you are paid to deliver comes up missing or damaged - what do you do ? You do everything possible to make the customer happy up to and including replacing or compensating for the item. Now what does the USPS do - "sorry you didn't purchase insurance on an item that you paid us to get somewhere safely so nothing we can do". Never understood insuring someone to do there job correctly. Also don't understand why 70% of the people working at the PO are pissed off all the time, they make pretty descent money.

I have the contact info for one manager and will be calling tomorrow. Not sure how to find anyone much higher than that. The clerk at the normal post office are the ones who actually helped me and got that number to me. They see me all the time there and are always very helpful.

I know. I was really afraid my box would be smashed. The guy offered free shipping, so I paid immediately without thinking ($260 worth of cards, so I should have). There's also horror stories about getting that insurance to actually work after you pay for it. Luckily, the guy I bought from packaged it beautifully and did a great job protecting everything.

By the way to all. I'm really mild-mannered and respectful and almost never lose my temper. I teach at a Christian high school and have all the patience in the world. It was really shocking to receive that kind of treatment. Really can't believe that they pulled that garbage with me. Some people are aggressive with them, so they are probably always on the defense, but all I said was "I would really just like my package today please".
