fasting

One of my co-workers is fasting for ramadan. It got me to thinking has anyone ever or do you fast for religious reasons such as ramadan, lent, the daniel fast etc. When I was in my 20s and trying out Islam I fasted for ramadan. I didn't really know what I was doing so it didn't go to well for me. I also did the Daniel Fast which I actually kind of like because I was able to try more vegetarian ideas. My bishop also put us on a no meat or meat substitute fast but that did not work out so well because every complained about it. What about you?

I fast from 7pm to 7am everyday.

I fasted as part of a religious observance when I was in the Baptist church with my parents. Can't really recall what it was for, maybe Easter...like a lent type of thing?
