Question about graphing a player on a rehab assignment.
Hey
im looking to graph a pitcher on a rehab assignment. I can bet that he won't sign before the game. He is supposedly on a pitch count for 60 pitches that should get home 4 innings or so. Will most guys stay after and sign? Will they leave before the game is over? Any help or trends would be appreciated.

Can't weigh in on the player (don't know how good he is signing) or the stadium. Generally he won't sign the day that he pitches. Pitchers are tricky on rehab because they don't sign on these pitching days and they don't go to the team all the time on days when they aren't.
I think your best (only) chance will be outside the stadium after the game. You'll have to use your own experience or ask a local about how is best to tackle that. Unfortunately, some of these guys get driven out of the stadium (i.e. the car drives inside the gates and pulls them out), so you won't have access.
He will likely NOT stay behind after the game and sign. In fact, he will likely leave soon after he gets lifted from the game in the 4th,5th inning. Sometimes guys will stay for a postgame press conference and then leave. Either way, outside is your best bet here.

Greinke signed after he was lifted early during a rehab game in Rancho. He was walking down the line to exit the field and signed about 20 graphs on his way to the clubhouse.

Well...I struck out.
As everyone thought...Carp didn't sign pregame. The amount of peopel lined up to get him insane. I thought to myself you are all wasting your time. He pitched 3 innings and took off to the clubhouse in the 4th. I waited about 30 min and headed to the parking lot. There were about 15 people already waiting there. Some people I spoke to mentioned they had got a lot people at this area. About an hour later some people saw Carp headed to a different part of the parking lot. Apparently he jumped into a car behind the gates and left through a private exit. He shut out everyone. Oh well....I would have regretted not trying.
thanks for the help and information though!

Dave, if I would have known it was Carp you were after I would have told you what I know about him from my years of getting him at ST. I don't normally see him signing before or even after games (whether he pitches or not!). The only times I have gotten him is very early in the morning when he comes in or the season tix signing day. I will say that when I have gotten him in the mornings he will sign whatever I have and will always ask me exactly the spot where I want it (weird but I appreciate it!). The way I found out about the spot was the first time I asked him to sign a Cards logo. He asked where do you want it and I said anywhere you want. He said, "no, point to where you want it."
