Probably different pens used hence different ink. Photodegradation of things like signatures is heavily influenced by the type of ink and the surface.

lol I saw these at Taz too, pretty funny that they priced the Bieksa at $20 when there isn't even an auto on it.

Thats exactly what i was wondering & one of the reasons i posted this thread!! Hope we can get UD member reply to this sad card! Lol
and the price of $250!!! I told the shop owner to discount at 50% off since half the card is invisible now,lol

As i said in my first post, BIEKSA had a signature on it when i saw it first last year! And believe it or not,he was asking more than that back then,cuz i would have grabbed it for $20 back then even though i knew i can grab one on ebay for under $6 (which i did anyways).....
But guys, BIeKsA WAS signed before...trust me...

Black ink is very prone to this (although most colors will fade just at different rates), especially when tossed in showcases which many dealers use with fluorescent lights. Add to it some sunlight in the store and you can make this happen in an incredibly short period of time.

This is why I am hesitant to pick up any autos that are on jersey pieces or patches. They might look nice now, but look like a pile of goop a few years from now.
