    ??Question about card shows??

Never been to a show, yes yes I know slightly lame but regardless, I haven't been. Let's say I go to MTL for a show and I collect Ottawa...would Sens singles be generally cheaper because I'm in a different market?? Same flip side, would Sens card's generally be more expensive in Ottawa card shows? My main comparison is Ebay....even though so many "buy it now" cards are usually above BV. I'm trying to buy up more singles now before the season starts because people say prices go up in season so trying to guesstimate if I should lay off Ebay until the MTL show in September.

It all depends on what you're looking for specifically. Here in Vancouver there's a couple tables with piles of Canucks base cards for 10-25 cents apiece. There's also dealers who come to the twice-annual big shows from Calgary or Edmonton who like to try to sell their better Canucks cards for premium money...............

Usually the "home market" does carry a premium on hot cards. If you walk into a card store or show in Halifax, you're going to pay more for Nathan MacKinnon stuff than you will in a show in Alberta. Here in BC, Vancouver Canucks cards sell for higher than they would in eastern Canada. Way she goes because of the higher demand in that market.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I agree with these guys. Whenever I go to shows here in Edmonton, there are piles of Oilers cards at the higher end of the price spectrum. It makes sense, supply and demand, and you have to assume the demand for a team will be highest in said team's city. But if you keep your eyes peeled, you might find some decent deals on other team's cards for sure.

If you are a hockey card collector you have to do the Toronto Expo at least once. A lot of Ottawa collectors make the short trek to Montreal and vice versa so without know what you would consider a deal I am not so sure you would do any better than the monthly Ottawa show price-wise, and you certainly wouldn't match the selection.

In show, you will always find deal but you have to look around. How often I spent my money only to realize the best deal was when my pocket were empty. The thing is to control your temptation make a full run and then get the deal you find. Local player or not, this remain true.
