Need HELP
We'll someone I know recently bought this from a "friend"
The card I am talking about is a 07/08 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Rookie Gold /31 of Carey Price.
The person I know who bought it paid a whopping $20 and few lower end cards...(so $20Cash and $30 worth of cards, with a total of $50)
I was thinking it was fake, The guy he bought it off of knew Sports Cards and he wasn't a nobody in the hobby selling cards so he knows the value is worth WELL more then $50.00
My guess was, he pulled/bought the card awhile back and the patch was dull, maybe a solid white or solid red swatch and he thought if he put a 3 color swatch from a Habs jersey it would boost the value, Why else would my friend only pay $50 for it?
Any help would be great guys...Here is the picture...I dont know if its factory damage or if its from tampering but the bottom left window where the red swatch is looks like there is some bending/tearing that could of happened to it.
Thanks for your time!

Dude, the patch window is DESTROYED.
I would say it's a fake, but honestly, if it's as bad as it looks, and it looks BAD, even if it was real I probably wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it. It looks like someone damaged the patch window while trying to exchange the patch and then proceeded to try and "repair it" with a gold paint pen. In fact, I would put money on the fact that that is EXACTLY what happened to it.
I think I just died a little bit inside.

I have 15 images of different Cup gold of Carey Price but I did not have the 22/31 image. But the card is definitely damage and the patch may have been changed for sure and that would remove any value to the card. There is a old saying that if the price is so low it because it's not legit. So can't say for sure but look tempered with. I know there was 1 color patch in the 31 cards as out of the 15 images I have, the 01/31 and the 14/31 were white patch only. So high end player, the card definitely look more then fishy. Maybe someone else with a The cup archive has a image of this card but I don't have that one.

Yeah that card normally gets close to four figures. There's no way in this world or any other that somebody would be so dumb to sell that card for $30 if it were in its original, unaltered condition. What an absolute shame to see such a beautiful rare rookie-year Price card ruined.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...
