Topps base line football series shakes things up. The design is different from its baseball counterpart. An interesting tidbit is on the back of the player cards as each one lists their Twitter handles. I guess to help collector keep in touch better with their favorite players. There are subsets such as All-Pro and Team cards. The base set is 440-cards, 110 of which are rookies.

Each base card has five parallel levels with a bonus sixth for rookies. Outside of the ones seen here, there is also a Black and a Platinum Parallel as well as the obligatory Printing Plates. In a bonus move by Topps, there is a Legacy Rookie Set available. Each of the 110 rookies has a Legacy Gold Parallel available. Topps has a contest where if you collect the entire set, you will receive a special set of autographed cards featuring the rookies. In addition, you will be entered into a drawing to win a trip to the 2014 NFL Rookie Premiere.

Six insert sets can be found with this products. 1000 Yard and 4000 Yard Club flashes back to the 1980s and early 1990s when these were random inserts in packs. But to show you how the game has changed, QBs were featured as members of the 3000 Yard Club. The mini set uses the design from 1959 Topps. Finally there are three "Legends" sets. One focuses on the young stars of today, one on the elite in the game now and the final on those who cemented their legacy but no longer play the game.

Each box of Topps contains either one relic or autograph. The list is long with the different sets and types to be found, along with some having parallel levels. The ever-popular Rookie Premiere Auto set is back, along with the Red Ink version. On a side note, just wanted to remark how wonderful (enter sarcasm here) it is to get a relic of a guy who got cut before the start of the season.
