Like many young hockey players intent on being goalies around the turn of this century, Keith Kincaid grew up idolizing New Jersey Devils future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur.
Nothing particularly special about that, except the young Kincaid did it in Farmingville, N.Y., a small community smack dab in the heart of Islanders country on Long Island.
It was a good 60 miles to the Devils’ former residence in East Rutherford, N.J., but Kincaid saw enough on television to know which netminder he wanted to emulate.
