Both teams were lottery team last year in fact so that isn't a factor. The major factor is which team makes the playoffs. They are both fighting for 8th so which ever team makes the playoffs then that that teams rookie should be it.

Yeah cause Amare has also turned the Suns from a lottory team to a playoff team. All though I think there both playing on the same level. Really Caron deserves Rookie of the year and I have no idea how anybody can doubt that. Caron his tearing it up, even if his team sucks. it's about the player themselves and Caron deserves Rookie of the year.

Amare deserves to win, as does Caron Butler. I just don't see how Yao can win it. I know the fanfare is great, but is that a legitimate reason for giving him ROY honors? You be the judge...

Whoever ends up with the last playoff spot, Houston or Phoenix, should go a long way to determine who wins rookie of the year, Yao or Amare.
I'd vote for whoever's team makes it.

looks like amare and phoenix will get that last playoff spot. I think that butler deserves it though his stats are very good for a rookie and boozer should come in 4th

I see Yao and Amare doing the same thing there both great inside players that are very inconsistent. If I had to pick 1 of them it would be the one whos team gets into the playoffs, cause that guy was the difference maker since both teams were lottory teams before them. Honestly though. I dont think there is that big of a difference in the way they are playing right now, I think there dead even. Why poor Caron is picking up the slack, scoring 25 points and 3 steals a game only to come in 3rd. The NBA has got to get there act together.

I'd stick with Amare, he's also much faster than Yao who is clumsy and slow.

You can say that with anything though, Amare is fast, Yao is not, Amare is bad at blocking, Yao is great at blocking. Amare is stronger, Yao has a great Shot Selection. You can't win in between them they both play a power position, and they both end being equal. They Both Rebound the same and score about the same, also defend about the same. THats why they should just cancel each other out and Caron should be Rookie of the year. Thats sounds fair to me
