Canucks At Pens - Early Game For Us Left Coasters

    Good game, spirited.

Sestito and Engelland dance, pretty much a draw, both getting in about 3 shots each, Sestito with a takedown. I wanted these guys to throw 'em. Oh well.

Canucks fire the puck in from centre, hits Fleury in the high chest, just below his neck, flips up over his head, and into the net. Lol. Pee Wee goal from 70 feet out.

Pens hustle back, Edler forgets that Crosby is on the ice and leaves him unattended. Sid makes a pass to Dupuis who take a great shot glove-side. Sid has so much time alone to the left of the crease that he eats both of Edler's hard-boiled eggs out of his lunch-pail, then both of his sandwiches before he bangs two shots, one at Luongo, then the 2nd one into a gaping net while Edler continues to knit a pair of socks watching.

First Period ends with the teams deadlocked at 1-1.

2nd Period. Pens PowerPlay. Kunitz goes into the corner, Edler actually checks him but puts the puck right onto the stick of Malkin. Edler then stands there admiring his pass and leaves Kunitz. Kunitz just skates into the low slot and bangs in the easy goal with a great pass from Malkin.

    Pens 2, Canucks 1. Pens 2, Edler - Goose-egg.

That goal given by MAF might take some of the spotlight away from Quick, Bernier and Luongo...it's sure been a big season for weird goals so far...

Canucks jump right back into the fray. 4th line of Sestito and Weise and Richardson showing some creativity with Bieksa jumping into the play. Weise with a nice feed across the net, Richardson roofs it with Fleury on his face, Orpik standing like a goombah watching it all go down.

    2-2 halfway through the game.

Both teams going end to end, a real entertaining game for newbies, but a nightmare to watch for a purist.

2nd Period ends, teams deadlocked again, 2-2.

Crazy play continues into the 3rd, with both teams scoring and Luongo stopping a penalty shot.

    Overtime now.

Game goes to a Shootout. I hate shootouts.

Malkin scores the only goal in the shootout, beating Luongo like a cheap rug, after Luongo had a good game. Pens get the extra point. Did I mention that I hate shootouts?

Especially in an entertaining game such as this. Team play does not need to deteriorate into Olympic nonsense.

Man, I forgot all about the game. That, and I just woke up. Thanks for the re-cap Tim, you're like Norm McDonald describing golf on Twitter, which is exponentially more entertaining than golf :D

Canucks outshot the Pens, and in my my mind played better without the puck. It's unfortunate that this game offers an extra point, as both deserved only one point each, the way it was meant to be.

Vancouver was the better team and Luongo the better goalie. I have my issues with the lack of Penguins penalties.
    Nice move by Malkin.
