    Habs Chat Thread

    Let's talk about the Canadiens!

So after 9 games, this is what I'm seeing...

Larry and the Gally's are fantastic. Keep them together, let them continue to develop chemistry. They are carrying this team offensively.

Speaking of putting the team on his broad shoulders, P.K. Subban is going to earn every penny of the max-term contract he's going to get this summer, if not sooner.

Carey Price has made himself the front-runner for Team Canada between the pipes. Only 1 or 2 stinkers so far through nine games. Decent.

I don't want Andrei Markov getting caught flat-footed against anybody because he'll never recover, but he is having himself a very strong start. Good for him after all the injury woes in recent years. He has lost a step physically, but he's still as smart out there as anybody.

    So that's the good.

Of the forwards on the team over the age of 25, the only one that is performing worth his salt is Tomas Plekanec. The rest are just not carrying their weight. Gionta and Bourque, especially, need to turn up the dial.

    Travis Moen can do better.

Prior to his injury, which was the result of a bogus hit that somehow escaped sanction from the NHL, Daniel Briere was not playing very well.

Defence is soff. Needs more Emelin Tank.

    That's the not-so-good.

David Desharnais has fewer points than Josh Gorges, Travis Moen, Francis Bouillon, and Brandon Prust. This is not acceptable. He is finally starting to get boo'd for his play, which is dragging down everybody.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

    I agree with your analysis,

I think the overall team play (aside the Kid line) isn't too good. They are giving way too much shot per game (about 32 shot against per game). I'm expecting the next few weeks to be quite rough.

does a Bruin fan dare tread...into this thread :p What da hey eh! I would say your on the mark, P.K is on verge of being a superstar or already is, first line is young and very talented, Gallagher is an absolute dynamo..reminds me of a certain smallish B's forward who plays All-out every shift. 3 top end D-men, including Emelin, one of the most unheralded players in the league, plays a rock solid heavy game...now if you could add a few more of him...
and the forwards, as said above, after the first line, it gets pretty thin, and small, will be difficult to outlast the heavy tight checking teams like Blues, Kings etc...a skilled Power forward would be on the top of my list if I was the GM, but not so easy to find.
