Book Signing questions?
Has anyone gone to a book signing? If so have you ever got something signed that was not a book or do they tell you only books? Also can you get them not to put your name. Thanks for the help

Depends on the promoter. I've been to some that allow an outside item or two and others where outside items are treated like the plague...

The book signings that I have been to, they have not personalized the book, only autographed it. Mostly, that is to keep the line moving quickly for bigger authors (Phil Jackson, Gabby Douglas, etc). If you see they are personalizing automatically, you can certainly ask them not to, and say it will be a gift for the holidays, but you aren't sure who you are going to give it to yet.
Who is the author?Working on autographed 1987 Topps Baseball set:
Total Cards in Set:792/Total Autographable: 760 (6 Checklists, 26 Team Leaders)
Total Autographed:639!
Currently Sent (Outstanding):44

Another question about book signings- will they sign the cover or only the inside panel?

Usually they sign on the inside panel, I'm sure they would sign the cover if you asked!

When I went to the shaq oneal book signing in nov 2011 they had 400+ people so there was no way he was going to personalize but most book signings I've read/heard of don't usuLly personalize stuff and for extra items it usually just depends on the signee or the establishment hosting the event

Usually they sign the blank inside page or the title page. Sometimes they will sign other items as well. Can't hurt to bring the extra items along and ask the store before the signing if they will sign other items. I've been to a few signings where they will sign one additional item for each book that you buy. If it's only one autograph per person, you may be able to purchase the book but have them sign your other item (instead of the book). Good Luck!

Thanks for all the help. I might try and go to a couple book signing. I missed one signing of Newt Gingrich right by my house and would liked to got his book as I collect politician autographs and I really need to try and go to DC and see how I do as DC tend to have a lot of famous people there.
