Very interesting! Does the back of the card say whether the pieces are game used or event worn? I think All Star Games are still considered official NHL games. Anyway, both pieces are unique in their own way: the left side like you said looks like it could be part of a crest. The piece on the right looks like there could be part of a letter (maybe "T" or "I") and the red at the top makes it more interesting.
Anyway, I did some looking at the crests used for the All Star Games he has participated in do far the best I can find is the 2007 All Star Game which was held in Dallas. Typically the players wear the ASG patch on one shoulder and their team crest on the other. However the 2007 ASG looks close but no match:

The one on the left looks like part of a Sabres crest, and the right one, from a Canes Jersey. Lol.

The only time the star had some red was in 2003-06

Now what these do not show are the patch some team wear in different years so could come from one or from a All-Stars game. But the 2003-06 the part with red does not seem to come from it.
Also one logo in 2007-08, did have red but does not seem to come from there:

So hard to say where it's from.

That is tres weird...all the ones I have seen have green/black and the really nice patches some Gold/bl/gr
The 1st patch is baffling, black with silver, Kings? and second looks like Blue Jackets...maybe!

Phew, Im glad its as difficult for every one else, as it was myself. Thought maybe I missed something blatantly obvious. Thanks for looking into this gents! Its driving me insane! It does say Game Worn, withouth further specification. Ive checked out Dallas, Detroit and Allstar Patches/Crests AND CANT FIND ANYTHING SIMILAR! AHHHHH Best guess I found so far was the shoulder crest of this Allstar Game. http://www.photofile.com/SportsProdu...os/aakv156.jpg Thanks!

That is probably it! Artifacts is notorious for slipping in surprises, I have an Ovechkin/15 and on of the patches is a glove piece. Whatever the case you got yourself a very unique hit!

I have have to agree with mooneyes. UD has been known to slip in some surprises as we have seen a few interesting patches or crests used from NHL games. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a crest used on his team's jerseys for one particular game. When you consider that teams will wear a special patch for one night only; whether is be when a jersey is retired, to pay their respects to someone who passed away, a special occasion like St. Patrick's Day (Leafs do this now and then), or for charity (Cancer awareness night), there are a ton of possibilities.
